About April

Hello! I work for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (UWEC) as an e-Learning Consultant, which involves helping faculty with online course development and technology for teaching. I am especially interested in multimedia development.

UWEC faculty and instructional staff can ask me for help with...
  • Online course design and ideas
  • PowerPoint design
  • D2L
  • Instructional video creation
  • Camtasia (Mac and Windows)
  • Screencast-o-matic
  • Turnitin
  • Kaltura and YouTube
  • Accessibility for students with disabilities
  • Social media for teaching
  • And plenty of other things I can figure out!
I completed my PhD in 2017 from Northcentral University in Education with a specialization in e-learning. I also have an Educational Specialist (Ed.S) degree from UW-Stout which primarily consisted of courses on e-learning and instructional design.

I've been working for UWEC since January of 2011. Previously, I was the Online Training Coordinator and Instructional Designer for the Stout Vocational Rehabilitation Institute at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. I created online courses for professional development in the area of vocational rehabilitation. I love online education, but this particular job was a little too solitary for me, so I really enjoy helping faculty with technology and course design at UWEC. Before that, I was a vocational counselor for people with disabilities. I am particularly interested in disability accessibility in e-learning as a result of this experience.

Please note that my blog posts may not reflect the views of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
